Shibui Streetwear is a traveling pop up shop dedicated to creating clothing that will last a lifetime in terms of style and quality. Shibui, a Japanese word loosely translated to "a muted coolness of simplicity and minimalism," combines traditional Japanese imagery with the experimental design style of urban streetwear. Shibui prides themselves on their ability to repurpose fabrics and textiles to reduce their carbon footprint and provide their employees with livable wages unlike many of their competitors. Committed to individuality and self-expression, they provide the ability to dress limitlessly.
The logo and brand color palette are inspired by traditional Japanese colors and fonts while also staying true to the extended typefaces often found in experimental urban design. Due to being a clothing brand, the animated logo resembles a thread being sown into the Japanese characters which read as Shibui.
Used throughout their brand, the illustration style of these mascots are inspired by a modernized Japanese comic aesthetic using muted yet bright colors. They were designed to show the diversity and versatility of Shibui's clothing, often being used to showcase unreleased apparel in a sustainable manner.
